Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Private Lessons.

Private Lessons are one-on-one sessions tailored to student goals. We assess skill level, set objectives, and create lesson plans with technique, repertoire, and practice assignments. Lessons are scheduled weekly and progress is reviewed regularly to adjust instruction.

We offer Private Lessons in piano, guitar, voice, violin, and woodwinds. If you play another instrument, contact us — our instructors often teach additional instruments or can recommend specialized teachers to meet your needs.

Standard lessons are 30, 45, or 60 minutes. We recommend weekly sessions for consistent progress. Scheduling is flexible with daytime, afternoon, and evening slots; make-up lessons are arranged when possible with advance notice.

Bring your instrument, necessary accessories (picks, rosin, reeds, tuner), any sheet music, and a notebook for notes and practice tasks. For beginners without instruments, consult us — we can advise rentals or purchases before lessons begin.

Instructors use regular assessments, milestone benchmarks, repertoire completion, and performance feedback to track progress. We set short- and long-term goals, provide practice logs, and review advancement regularly to ensure lessons remain aligned with the student's evolving objectives.

We require 24-48 hours notice for cancellations to qualify for a makeup lesson. Late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit credit. For planned absences, we’ll schedule a makeup when possible or offer a private online alternative when instructor availability allows.
