Common Questions About Music Instruction

Answers to common questions about lessons, classes, scheduling, and progress tracking.

We teach students of all ages — children, teens, adults, and seniors. Lessons and classes are age-appropriate, with curriculum adapted for developmental stages, starting instrument basics through advanced repertoire and theory. Contact us for recommendations and suitable class placements.

We offer piano, guitar, voice, violin, drums, bass, ukulele, and music theory classes. If you have a different instrument in mind, we’ll try to accommodate or recommend qualified instructors. Private lessons cover technique, repertoire, and musicianship.

Standard private lessons are 30 or 60 minutes, depending on student age and goals. We also offer extended sessions for intensive study and 45-minute options for intermediate students. Frequency is weekly unless alternate arrangements are made.

We provide both group music classes and private lessons. Group classes foster ensemble skills, collaboration, and ear training, while private lessons focus on individualized technique and personalized repertoire. Many students combine both for balanced musical development.

Progress is tracked through regular assessments, recorded performances, teacher feedback, and goal-setting meetings. Students receive practice plans, milestone targets, and periodic reviews to adjust curriculum. We encourage parents to attend recitals and review reports for transparent progress tracking.

We require 24-hour notice for cancellations to receive a make-up lesson. Missed lessons without adequate notice may not be eligible for credit. Make-up sessions are scheduled based on instructor availability and studio policy. Contact us to discuss exceptions.
